Councillors campaign for Langley Road repairs
The condition of Langley Road has been branded like a 'scene from a war film' amid a pothole epidemic in the area.
Locals in Nascot village have labelled the Langley Road junction with St Albans Road as one of the most pothole ridden roads in Watford.
Nascot Councillor Mark Hofman has been battling to keep up with the volume of new potholes that emerge on a near daily basis: “It’s like playing whack-a-mole, as soon as I’ve reported one to the county council, another pothole appears again in the same area.”
Now, Mark is campaigning for an end to Langley Road’s pothole plague, which is costing drivers battling a cost-of-living crisis money on repair bills and putting cyclists' safety at risk.
Mark said: “I have sent numerous reports to Herts County Council to request that the swathes of potholes on Langley Road be repaired permanently.
“This stretch of road looks like a scene from a war film. I know motorists have complained that their vehicles have been damaged by hitting the deep potholes, and cyclists no longer feel safe cycling in the area.
“The St Albans Road and Langley Road junction is one of Watford’s busiest intersections, being just a few dozen metres from Watford Junction railway station. It’s only right that the thousands of residents who use this junction everyday feel safe using this popular crossroads.
“It would probably only take one or two nights’ work to resurface the road but instead residents have been forced to endure endless low-grade, quick fix repairs, that begin to crumble almost immediately after they’ve been finished.”
