First step towards step free access Bushey Station
One step closer to step free access in Lib Dem campaign victory
Cllr Ian Stotesbury, Mayor Peter Taylor and local Councillors are excited to announce that funding has been awarded for a feasibility study and step free access improvements
This is to adapt Bushey station for passengers with disabilities, mobility issues and families with children in pushchairs. If successful, this study will enable Bushey station to join the ‘Access for All’ programme for significant upgrades.
In April 2022, Mayor Taylor, Councillor Ian Stotesbury, and Oxhey ward Councillors submitted a business case to Network Rail for accessibility enhancements. Despite delays, their persistence has led to Bushey being selected for the feasibility study.
Lib Dem Councillors Kennedy Rodrigues and Karen Clarke-Taylor are also involved in other initiatives at Bushey station, including forming a Friends of Bushey Station group, chaired by Councillor Kennedy Rodrigues, and collaborating with West Midlands Rail and Transport for London on station improvements.
Cllr Ian Stotesbury, Lib Dem Candidate for MP said:
“Ensuring access to public transport is vital for reducing carbon emissions and traffic congestion. We are so pleased with this decision and urge a prompt start to the study.”
“The Conservatives are desperate to claim credit, but local people will know the impressive level of work that local Liberal Democrat’s have been doing on this essential campaign.”
