Meet Your Local Candidates!
This week local residents will vote to decide who should represent them on Watford Council.
I’m delighted that hardworking Watford Liberal Democrats councillors are re-standing in some wards - Ann Saffery in Woodside, Karen Clarke-Taylor in Oxhey, Darren Walford in Tudor and Mark Watkin in Nascot.
In other wards we have candidates hoping to be elected for the first time, including:
🔶 Callowland: Richard Short who has lived in the ward since 1997 and is often seen walking his dog in Callowland Rec. A keen supporter of local charities, for many years he announced Watford FC’s arrival onto the pitch on match days.
🔶 Central: Sam Summer who works at our leisure centres, supports local charities and lives in the ward with his family and dog Simba.
🔶 Holywell: Simon Morrison who lives in the ward with his family. He is a retired IT Manager who worked in Watford for TJX.
🔶 Leggatts: Sham Begum has lived in the ward for over 30 years and works in finance. She went to Cherry Tree school and her sons did too.
🔶 Meriden: Annalisa Buraglio Molteni who teaches at a local secondary school, runs the Meriden Foodbank and lives in the ward.
🔶 Park: Gabriel Duduta who lives in the ward and helps to organise our fantastic volunteers at Watford General hospital.
🔶 Stanborough: Clara Ansong who runs a small business and lives in the ward.
🔶 Vicarage: Sohail Bashir who has lived in West Watford for over 40 years, attending Chater School as a boy. He served as a councillor from 2014 - 2021 and works as a solicitor.
This energetic team of candidates has a fantastic range of experiences and skills. They are united in their care for Watford and the local community.
