Peter Taylor responds to Rishi Sunak as our new Prime Minister

The Liberal Democrat Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor has given his comments on the selection of Rishi Sunak as the new Prime Minister.

He said:

“The chaos of the last few weeks has had real consequences for residents here in Watford. We are still waiting for the funding needed to upgrade Watford General, local businesses fear that they may be forced to close, and hundreds of pounds have been added to people’s monthly mortgage payments.

“Rishi Sunak has shown time and time again that he doesn’t understand the challenges facing struggling families and pensioners – whether it’s paying their heating bills this winter or waiting weeks to see a GP or dentist.

“I know that in Watford, families are worried about soaring prices. It is a scandal that at a time when the government should be protecting families it has been fighting itself and trashing the economy. People are fed up with this shambolic Conservative government. It's time give local people a say in a general election.”
