Residents Raise Objections to 5G Mast
Many residents living in or near The Gardens have raised concerns with us about proposals to erect a 20m tall telecoms mast and associated equipment cabinets, in The Gardens.
If approved, this mast would stand at double the height of nearby houses, dominating the outlook for nearby residents. The mast and equipment cabinets would also restrict the width of the pavement.
The proposed mast is part of the roll-out of 5G mobile phone systems across the country.
Under Planning rules the only grounds for objecting are appearance and siting of the masts and equipment.
Cllr Peter Kloss has added his voice to those of other objectors. He says 'The siting and appearance of this tall mast and equipment boxes on the ground, in a quiet residential street close to houses, right next to the busy tennis club is unreasonable and unnecessary. It would spoil the pleasant local environment and also cause obstruction on a pavement which is not particularly wide.'
A decision on this application is expected within the next few days. Your Councillors are optimistic that the concerns of residents will be heeded and the application will be refused.
