Street Lighting

At this time of the year several residents contact us regarding their concerns over the level of light from Herts County Council’s lamp columns.
In the past we have taken this matter up with Herts County Council and have had some successes at particular locations to remove shield guards from a number of the lights themselves that then emits greater light coverage. However, and surprisingly, when we pushed further for action Conservative led Herts County Council stated “there is no requirement for County to provide public lighting” and furthermore “there is no requirement on County to meet lighting standards” where lighting is provided – we were dismayed.
Despite this we are still working on solutions for a number of areas.
