Watford General Hospital rebuild petition hits 1,000 signatures in just a few days

The Watford Liberal Democrats petition calling the Labour Government to reconsider and prioritise the Watford General Hospital rebuild has reached 1,000 signatures a few days after it was launched.

The large uptake in the petition shows how important the rebuild of Watford General Hospital is for our town and the frustration residents feel with a delayed start date of 2032 at the latest.

The delay comes despite assurances from the Labour Watford MP and the Health Secretary during the General Election that they were committed to rebuilding Watford General Hospital if they won the election. Labour now plans to break their promise and fund other hospitals before this shovel-ready project.

Mayor Peter Taylor said:

“Every day I am contacted by residents who are angry about the decision to delay rebuilding Watford General Hospital. The huge number of people who have signed this petition, in only a few days, shows how important this hospital rebuild is for patients, staff, and residents.

“We can’t wait for another decade before the rebuilding of Watford General even starts. Patients and staff deserve so much better.

“We’re calling on Labour Ministers and MPs to get on with it and urgently deliver the funding needed for this vital project. Sign our petition to back the campaign to rebuild Watford General Hospital now”
